In this category we’ll talk about race games. The first big one was Race Night, a game that was initially created by Sega. In 2012, Race Night got a re-release into the form of a video game. It was ported by Koei Tecmo back to Sega’s 16-bit console, the Mega Drive, and was released for the NES.
Race Night is now in the hands of Bandai Namco, an American publisher that has also been making games for the NES for many years now. Since its original release, there have been several different ports of Race Night being made for the Nintendo 3DS. They’re all quite different from each other, both visually and in terms of gameplay. It’s not a surprise that they were a hit with the fans, but since the porting company was originally made up of Sega veteran and designer, Tomoko Nakayama, many have considered Race Night as the worst game made for the retro console.
Race Night is not just the worst game for the Mega Drive, it’s also the worst 3D racing game ever made.
